Top stylist tips

Hair stylists know what they are doing when it comes to looking after hair, so where better to head to for tips than them?

Brushes are an important part of your hair styling process, and Charles Baker Strahan is adamant that in order to keep your hair looking as good as you can, you need to make sure that you always, always use the best brush for your hair. Our favourite is the wide paddle brush - buy a high quality one! versatile in its use for taming, smoothing, perfect for wet hair and just as good at de-tangling as the much loved Tangle Teezer.

Christian Wood is a hair stylist to the stars and he says that if you want to use dry shampoo to limit how much you wash your hair then you need to not just spray it in and brush it out. To really benefit from this product you need to give it a good blast with the hairdryer first as this will help to remove the dirt and oil and leave your hair feeling fresh.

For the shiniest hair, Oscar Blandi suggests that you should use your hair dryer on a cold setting just at the end of your styling process. This will help to seal in the shine and make sure that your hair looks better than ever!

Use these shampoos and conditioners

We all need to wash our hair on a regular basis, but sometimes the simple act of washing our hair can do far more damage than we may realise. In order to minimise the risk of our hair becoming damaged, it is a good idea to use the right shampoos and conditioners. But where to start? Let’s take a look at some of the best options out there.

The main thing to look for is a shampoo and conditioner that is sulfate free. Sulfates may help to get your hair squeaky clean, but in the process they are also responsible for stripping away a large amount of the natural oils that keep your hair and your scalp as healthy as possible.

Ouai Repair Shampoo

The idea of this particular shampoo is that it will replenish and nourish hair that needs a helping hand to look its best. The brand was created by Jen Atkin, who is a well-known celebrity hair stylist and has worked with some of the most famous faces around the globe.

The Body Shop Banana Shampoo

The Body Shop are well known for creating cruelty free and vegetarian products that are designed to leave you feeling not only guilt free but also looking great too. This shampoo is made without any silicones and will gently cleanse your hair, whilst still leaving it feeling in the best condition possible.

Davines Natural Tech Renewing Shampoo

Created in Italy, the idea behind this brand was to ensure that they only ever use natural and high-quality ingredients. Over the years they have developed and now are proud to not only be environmentally friendly but also vegan too. Their shampoo is not only gentle, but also gives your hair a much needed boost too.

Here at the Real Human Hair Company, we take great pride in offering our customers real human hair extensions. The great thing about human hair extensions is that not only do they look great, but also, if you take good care of them (following some of these tips) then they will also last you a long time too.

Finally, that old chestnut...or shall we say coconut...Coconut Hot Oil Treatment

One of the best and most traditional ways to keep your hair healthy is to adopt a monthly hot oil treatment using coconut oil on your hair. Its a very simple process, choose a quiet pampering day to allow yourself enough time for the treatment and to wash it after.

Buy a tub or bottle of organic coconut oil and heat it in hot water from your tap or by boiling the kettle and resting the oil in the water until it melts and warms up. Be careful not to overheat the oil as this will burn your scalp on application. Once the oil is warm enough, test the temperature. Section your hair into rows and apply the hot (warm) oil to your scalp. After you have covered your scalp with the hot coconut oil, rub some into your palm and apply to the strands / lengths of your hair. Leave the treatment in all day or overnight and wash out with shampoo in the morning.

Coconuts are full of fatty acids which will replenish, moisturise and condition your hair for strength, growth, shine and general healthy hair.
